Two luxury Midlands spa resorts are in the running for House and Leisure magazine’s prestigious Best of SA awards, to be announced in August.
Fordoun and Karkloof Spa have been nominated in the Spa category of the competition that puts together a list of country’s top five hotels, spas, lodges and restaurants.
This year, the magazine is offering its readers the opportunity to help crown the winner in each category.
General manager of Karkloof Spa, Jonathan Lithgow, said the nomination was a huge accolade and was due to the great team work from the staff and management.
Karkloof Spa has won two other awards this year: “Most Exciting Discovery — 2009” in the Tatler Spa Awards and the South African Tourism Welcome Award, Best Accommodation provider for 2009.
“I think we’ve found a concept that works. We live in such a hectic society that it’s great that people can visit Karkloof to unwind,” he said.
Hartford House, a restaurant near Mooi River, has been nominated in the restaurants category. Head chef Jackie Cameron said the nomination is a huge compliment and means people recognise the hard work that goes into running the restaurant.
House and Leisure editor Naomi Larkin said: “South Africa has some of the most exciting, welcoming and luxurious destinations in the world, and it was a wonderful challenge choosing five in each category.”
House and Leisure readers stand a chance to win amazing prizes in the House and Leisure/Visa Best of SA Awards. By voting for the winning hotel, spa, lodge or restaurant, four lucky readers will each win a five-star trip for two to one of the winning establishments.
