The St. Regis Monarch Beach has once again been bestowed the prestigious Forbes Five-Star Award by Forbes Travel Guide (formerly Mobil Travel Guide) as well as the coveted Five Diamond Award by American Automobile Association (AAA), positioning the acclaimed property as the only Five-Star and Five Diamond resort in California.

In addition to receiving the Forbes Five-Star Award for the property, St. Regis Monarch Beach’s Spa Gaucin also received a Five-Star award from Forbes in the spa category, and the resort’s Stonehill Tavern by Michael Mina achieved a Four-Star designation.
Amongst the most trusted source in travel ratings and expert reviews, the Forbes Travel Guide has helped to define excellence and quality in the travel industry since 1958. Their ratings are based on more than 750 standardized criteria for hotels, more than 250 for restaurants, and more recently 450 different criteria for spas, making it the most rigorous and comprehensive in the industry. The process begins with a facility inspection that considers every aspect of the property, including its overall cleanliness, condition and location. To achieve Forbes Four- and Five-Star status, properties must then meet or exceed Forbes’ bar-setting service standards, which are determined through an unannounced, undercover service evaluation conducted by Forbes Travel Guide’s expert inspectors.
To be considered for the AAA rating, both lodgings and restaurants must undergo an extensive inspection by one of the organization’s professionally trained inspectors. These inspectors evaluate nearly 60,000 hotels and resorts in North America, awarding the AAA Five Diamond based upon accommodations, service, amenities and overall experience. An establishment with a Five Diamond Award truly reflects the characteristics of ultimate luxury, sophistication and excellence.
