AAA annually evaluates more than 32,000 lodging establishments and rates them on a scale of one to five Diamonds, ranging from simple to luxurious. To qualify, properties must first meet 27 essential requirements based on member expectations, including cleanliness, comfort, security and safety. Properties are then selected for evaluation and need to demonstrate the strict quality guidelines required to be AAA-approved. The Four-Diamond rating indicates the extensiveness of services, amenities and decor provided. These establishments are upscale in all areas. The fundamental hallmarks at this level include a wide array of amenities combined with a high degree of hospitality, service and attention to detail.
