Another great achievement for PGA National Resort & Spa to add to its roster: GOLF Magazine announced PGA National Resort & Spa as one of the best destinations in golf by honoring them with two of their 2010-2011 Premier Resorts awards.
With a Silver Award and a Green Golf Award from this prestigious publication, PGA National Resort & Spa is being recognized for the overall resort, golf and service experience, and the resort’s many conservation efforts.
“These awards come at the heels of our newly completed $65 million comprehensive resort reinvention,” notes Joel Paige, General Manager, PGA National Resort & Spa, of their accolades. “We are excited to be included here amongst the most renowned resorts in the United States, and proud to see all of our efforts recognized.”
Overall Resort features contributing to these awards include:
• Five award winning tournament-ready golf courses, designed by Nicklaus, Palmer, George and Tom Fazio, and Karl Litten, considered among the best layouts in Florida
• Nine onsite restaurants and lounges, from the fine steaks and seafood at Ironwood Grille, drinks and light fare at the lobby iBAR to the crisp cuisine of the poolside Wave Grill
• Nine sparkling pools, including the newly remodeled main pool, lap pool and soothing whirlpools
• The Spa at PGA National: a 40,000-square-foot European spa, featuring a diverse menu of treatments, exclusive “Waters of the World” outdoor mineral pools, salon, relaxing café, and lounge areas
• Health & Racquet Club offering 19 Har-Tru tennis courts, free weight and cardiovascular exercise rooms, Pilates, aerobic and ballet studios, as well as personal training
• 39,000-square-foot, self-contained conference wing, featuring 23 stylish and modern meeting rooms
• The PGA National Golf Academy: a first-of-its-kind golf instruction program featuring the top two instructors in the world, Dave Pelz and David Leadbetter.
Started in 1988, GOLF Magazine’s Premier Resorts ranking is the oldest and most authoritative rating of golf’s finest properties. Announced every two years, the winners are nominated by the myriad of GOLF’s subscribers who weigh in on their experiences at thousands of resorts across the country with the editors finalizing the list. The list will be featured in GOLF Magazine’s March issue and will go live on GOLF.com starting late February.
The Green Awards were established in 2008 to honor the ten most deserving destinations that commit to protecting resources. PGA National Resort & Spa was listed as one of three newcomers to this year’s Award. PGA National Resort & Spa was recognized not only for its numerous conservation practices, including linen re-use, low-flow aerators and toilets and extensive recycling, but for going one step further by recycling the construction debris from its recent renovation and donating the old fixtures from the project to Habitat for Humanity.
