Awards And Accolades Boost Banyan Tree’s 2009 List Of Honours

Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts garnered new international awards and accolades in the third quarter of 2009, with the tally numbering more than 490 awards and accolades since it was established 15 years ago.

These awards are testimony to Banyan Tree’s strong global branding and continued commitment to service standards as the Group embarks on its expansion globally.

pjuThe Group’s flagship property, Banyan Tree Phuket continues its winning streak on the international stage, bagging three prestigious awards and accolades – Top 25 Spa Hotels and Resorts, L’Officiel Voyage Magazine’s The 100 Most Beautiful Hotels Around the World and Business Traveller’s Best Resort Hotel in Asia Pacific, reaffirming the reputation of the much–lauded resort as one of the best spa destinations and places to stay in the world. These achievements attest to the success of the resort’s signature DoublePool Villas and other new innovations, among them culinary delights such as Dinner of the Legend, a romantic dinner extravaganza for two made popular by the resort.

As the Group’s first foray into the Americas, Banyan Tree Mayakoba has already received more than its share of awards and accolades since opening in March 2009. This new resort, which has been credited for introducing the first branded exclusive all-pool resort to the Riviera Maya, now adds to its list the prestigious Top 101 Suites in the World by Elite Traveler Magazine for its sprawling three-bedroom beachfront pool villa set on an extensive and beautifully manicured grounds.

At the recent 4th Annual Boutique Design Awards, which celebrated the hospitality industry’s best in creative design talent, Banyan Tree Mayakoba continued its winning streak and clinched two awards – Best Spa and Best Lobby.

ljiIn China, the hugely popular Banyan Tree Lijiang continues to be a favourite with newly weds. Voted one of Gootrip Magazine’s Top Ten Honeymoon Places in China, this beautiful Naxi-style resort perched 2400 metres above sea level provides a romantic escape high in the mountains of the sublime Yunnan province.

Not to be outdone, the Group’s latest resort in China, Banyan Tree Sanya also picked up the accolade of Top Ten Honeymoon Places in China in the same magazine. Located at Luhuitou Bay, Banyan Tree Sanya is the first all-pool villa resort in China offering luxury and privacy of unparalleled standards.

These awards and accolades further boost Banyan Tree’s growing presence in China, and is a sign of its success in having pioneered and delivered unique travel and resort experiences. The Group currently operates four resorts in China and will be opening Banyan Tree Hangzhou later this year. This growth is in line with the Group’s pipeline of upcoming properties and spas in China under the Banyan Tree and Angsana brands.

For his significant contribution to the success of the Singapore Management University (SMU), Banyan Tree Executive Chairman and founder Mr. Ho Kwon Ping received the Meritorious Service Medal – one of the most highly rated accolades in Singapore – for his pioneering role in education as Chairman of SMU.
