What can be better than a rain shower on a summer day, or a foot massage after fishing for deals in some of the best malls in the region?
When visitors come to the UAE this Dubai Summer Surprises, they’ll find plenty of ways to really get into their holiday with more than 30 spas across Dubai offering a wide variety of deals under the banner of the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (Depe), which has been running spa promotions across the city for the last four years.
That Dubai some of the world’s best spa and certainly more spas per square foot than the best destinations, certainly helped.
An emerging segment
“Spa travellers are an increasing group around the world and the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment wanted to tap into this traveller segment. For this to happen, it was necessary to have world-class spas, which Dubai already had,” Khadija Mohamed Ali Turki, Senior Manager – Strategic PR & Media Relations at Depe, which organises the DSS.
The second step was to bring the spas together and create value-added special treatments and spa packages was born. “The Spa Packages promotion was created so that spas could bank on Dubai’s popularity as a destination and in the process reach out to potential visitors through the DSS,” she says.
The Spa Packages promotion is a collaboration between the Depe and several top city spas that offer special packages and promotional prices on a wide range of experiences during Dubai Summer Surprises.
Michael Monsod is Cluster Spa and Recreation Manager at The Address Dubai Marina. “With this promotion for Dubai Summer Surprises, we aim to increase awareness for The Spa and welcome guests who are new to the place as we provide them with a relaxing time,” he told GN Focus. “Our audience has always been residents and tourists as Dubai is a place where residents, expats and tourists from the emirate.”
So while DSS traditionally targets the GCC and the families who travel into Dubai for an extended break, residents can take advantage too, says Turki.
“Spas get better exposure and there is an increased awareness on spas among Dubai’s residents over the past couple of years and spa owners have realised the potential of the resident market,” says the DEPE spokesperson.
Participating spas include Amara, Angsana, Assawan, Bodylines Leisure & Fitness Club, Cleopatra’s spa and wellness, Talise, The Ritz Carlton Spa and The Spa at The Palace, amongst others.
At the Retreat Spa at Grosvenor House, summer specials means packages start at Dh550 for 90 minutes of back and scalp massages and an express facial.
The Summer Slim deal offers a Satin Shimmer treatment, body sculpting and eye contouring for Dh890. These are valid until August 31. ShuiQi, the spa at Atlantis, The Palm, offers a 90-minute Super Detox Ultimate Ionithermie treatment at Dh475.
The action isn’t restricted to hotel spas. The Nail Spa, branches of which are located around Dubai, offers a complete Summer Beauty Indulgence, inclusive of a dream facial, a classic manicure and hand facial and a pedicure for Dh535 all through June.
